Why Pilates is BOOMING Right Now and How it is Evolving
As of 2025, Pilates has been the most booked workout globally! Just 6 years ago, I would work at Yoga studios and there would be just a few Pilates classes sprinkled in; now it has completely reversed. I love Yoga and doing both is a great balance BUT it’s Pilates time to shine as it has become one of the fastest growing fitness modalities in recent years! Between 2019 and 2025, participation in Pilates in the U.S. grew by nearly 40%, far outpacing many other workouts. Pilates is no longer “niche” or for “dancers.” People of all ages and fitness levels are showing up, from 20s to 70s, thanks to Pilates’ low-impact but effective nature.
What began as a niche, somewhat exclusive fitness method is now transforming. In 2025, more and more people were turning to Pilates not just for core strength or flexibility, but for holistic wellness, posture, mobility and stress relief. Also driving the change: as people look for sustainable, low-impact workouts that integrate well into busy modern lives, Pilates shines as a flexible and accessible option.
Pilates in 2025 wasn’t just a workout, it’s becoming the foundation of how both women and men build strength, mobility, longevity, and mental wellness. Pilates continues to evolve in powerful ways. Here’s what’s trending now and what’s shaping the future.

Changing Tides: Pilates Is Evolving
1. Hybrid Pilates Is the New Strength Training
Hybrid formats, such as: Pilates + strength, Pilates + resistance loops, Pilates + ankle weights are exploding! YAY for MOTHR! They deliver sculpting, muscle tone, and joint-friendly power, ideal for busy schedules. More and more teachers are putting their own spin on “Classical” Pilates. Even though my workouts are “Pilates based” they’re all rooted in the core principles of Pilates: mindful breath, proper alignment, controlled movement, balanced muscle development, and deep core engagement. I may deliver them in a modern, faster, sweatier way; but the foundation is the same. Most sequences I teach honours these principles so you get the strength, precision, and longevity benefits of Pilates, wrapped in a fresh, challenging format that gets results.
2. Tower, Vertical & Equipment-Inspired Training Are Growing Fast
Reformer Pilates is still huge, but Tower Pilates (wall mounted unit) and vertical resistance systems are rising quickly. These formats offer deep core activation, posture work, and full-body strength without needing a full reformer at home.
3. Short, Efficient Workouts Are Dominating
10–20 minute Pilates workouts are here to stay. Efficient, high-intensity, low-impact sessions that fit into real life; morning routines, quick lunch breaks, or before-bed resets.
4. Mobility, Longevity & Posture Are Top Priorities, not “Just Looks”
Both men and women are choosing Pilates for what matters long-term:
5. Mental Wellness + Stress Relievers Are Driving the Boom
Everytime I teach a Pilates based workout or do any good amount of exercise, it is a mental reset and flood of dopamine. Controlled breathwork, mindful sequencing, and dynamic movement patterns that help reduce stress and get the dopamine firing so you feel good overall! When we carve out this time for ourselves, we are just better at everything else: work, homelife etc.
6. Home Pilates Continues to Rise
Digital platforms like MOTHR, make Pilates accessible anywhere. Women want expert instruction, community, and flexibility delivered on their own schedule. The athome Pilates boom is only getting stronger. Another YES for MOTHR! HUZZAH!
